Sudan, Remember Us is a powerful portrait of a generation that chose poetry over silence and imagination over fear. Shajane, Maha, Muzamil, Khatab, and the voice of poet Chaikhoon form a cinematic chorus—young, politically defiant, and artistically fearless. In their twenties, they stand at the front lines of a revolution, confronting a corrupted army and paramilitary militias responsible for brutal war crimes in Darfur, Kordofan, and Blue Nile. They could have lost hope before they even began. Instead, through chants, poems, and dreams, they built a movement that helped topple a regime.

Blending intimate storytelling with sweeping political urgency, Sudan, Remember Us captures the uneven struggle between the fire of militias and the unbreakable voices of the people. It’s a tribute to the power of words—and a reminder that freedom is a fight born first in the imagination.

Don’t miss this screening followed by a community discussion. Why is what's going on in Sudan not as widely known? What actions can we take as a community to affect material change?

This is a FREE event, with a suggested $10 donation at the door if you can. All donations will go to the Sudan Solidarity Collective and CODEPINK Reno's ongoing efforts to support families in Gaza.

Whether it’s addressing sensitive issues with children, grandchildren, or other family members, this seminar will empower seniors to share their thoughts and needs while maintaining harmony within their families.

Read to Homeless Dogs
Twice a month SPCA of Northern Nevada partner with a local literary specialist The Reading Gal for Reading with Rescues! Participants in this special program get a full tour of our Adoption Center and have the kennels all to themselves for a reading session with our dogs. All ages are welcome!

Reading with Rescues is a wonderful opportunity for our community to engage with our animals, give kids a chance to sharpen their reading skills in front of a nonjudgemental audience, and provide much-needed one-on-one time with our pups (you won’t believe how much it calms them!).

Are you a member of a community group that would like to learn more about our organization and read to our homeless pets? You can email the Community Engagement and Volunteer Manager at nayla@spcanevada.org about setting up a private tour and informal reading with rescues session!
